The FWA-3220 is the latest addition to Advantech’s portfolio of networking platforms based on the Intel
®
Platform for Communications Infrastructure, providing full scalability from this
1U appliance to high-end ATCA based systems. The FWA-3220 can scale from entry-level performance using Intel
®
Celeron
®
and Pentium
®
processors to the mid-range segment using
Intel
®
Xeon
®
E3 series processors, offering an outstanding price/performance ratio with each SKU. In addition to supporting the latest Sandy Bridge microarchitecture enhancements
for increased CPU performance, virtualization support and I/O throughput, the Intel
®
Communications Chipset DH8903 adds hardware acceleration for Intel
®
QuickAssist technology
and 4 integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports. Network Equipment Providers who use the Intel
®
Data Plane Developers Kit (Intel
®
DPDK) and Intel
®
QuickAssist technology will be able to
leverage the full range of platform enhancements for packet processing, encryption and decryption as well as data and file compression/decompression. The platform also supports
optional LAN bypass based on Advantech’s advanced bypass technology.
For I/O expandability, one standard PCIe full-height, half-length slot with rear access allows the integration of off-the-shelf PCIe adapters and one Advantech Network Mezzanine Card
(NMC) slot offers further flexibility for additional front-panel network ports.
Featuring an onboard server BMC in accordance with IPMI 2.0, the FWA-3220 supports state-of-the-art remote and lights-out management for increased reliability, serviceability
and improved total cost of ownership.
System features include an LCM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet management ports, 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, one RJ45 console and 2 USB ports as well as two internally mounted 2.5" HDDs/SDDs.
